Drew Hannah, founder and principal

Drew Hannah brings more than 25 years of success as an operating executive, including 8 years as a CEO. He has participated in four exits by acquisition - two as the CEO and two in key supporting roles - each of which involved a company with an outstanding team with deep domain expertise and the technology that enabled them to successfully challenge larger and more established competitors. Once positioned properly and in partnerhship with the right strategic allies, each company experienced high growth that supported a solid valuation.

In 1999 Drew was recruited by Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), a distinguished early stage venture capital fund, to join their board as an independent director. As MTDC Treasurer and a member of the MTDC investment committee, Drew has brought his operating perspective to over 128 investment decisions in early stage companies including 22 new deals, 88 follow-on rounds, and 18 exits.

A Unique Blend of Operating and Investing Perspective

"Being on the investor side of the table has allowed me to see some remarkably consistent patterns in early stage companies that as a CEO I thought were unique to me. One of the critical patterns is that most C-level managers (CEO, CFO, COO, et al) - especially the CEO - of successful companies are pretty much consumed by the business they're doing today. Having additional C-level bandwidth can make a significant difference when there are opportunities that go beyond business as usual. My clients have told me that just having a trusted, experienced colleague they can talk to without worrying about an agenda or an axe to grind is a priceless asset when it comes to tackling the tough decisions."
